Have you ever looked at a friend, or read about someone, and wondered “How on earth do they have enough time to do that?” Enough time to work full-time including on-call, raise 2 small children, share the household chores, complete multiple Masters degrees (all with High Distinction), read numerous books, and write RPG modules in his “spare” time? Yes, my friend, you know who you are! Or the doctor I knew a long time ago, who was also an Olympic medallist. 12 years of study, 60 hour weeks, and she still had the time to compete at a world level.
In comparison, I … well, I work. Then come home. Dinner happens somehow, then some telly, and it’s time for bed. Rinse, repeat. Standing Pathfinder group on Friday nights. Friends and family occasionally appear. OK, I’m sure that description isn’t entirely accurate, but that’s how it feels. Much like budgeting, I’m hoping to take a closer look at my activities to gain a true picture of what I’m really up to.
I’ve decided to start blogging due to the nagging feeling that I could/should/want to be doing more with my time. To that end, I suspect it will cover topics such as:
- Goal setting
- Habit forming
- Time management (duh!)
- Financial management (because $ = time!)
and anything else that seems to fit along the way.
Like other bloggers, this is a way for me to make myself accountable. By writing, I hope to figure out whether I do want/need to do more with my time, whether I actually do have time to do more with my time, and form some (better?) habits.
I’m looking forward to meeting you, and hearing your ideas.
